On Our Sleeves : Alarm Clock

What does an alarm clock mean to you?

Every morning when an alarm clock goes off, it’s the start of a new day. For some, the sound of an alarm clock is the opportunity to reset … to look at the day as a fresh new start. Even though we might need to press the snooze button before we get started, each new day is one that might bring new accomplishments, time with those we cherish or one to relax and enjoy. But for others, it’s also the start of a day full of a wide range of emotions that aren’t as hopeful - anxiety, worry and the dread of another day that’s about to begin. It may also be a reminder of sleepless nights due to depression, stress and work or school pressure. An alarm clock may even mean addiction to some - the inability to break away from a harmful routine.

When each day goes by and your alarm clock produces more dread than a feeling of being refreshed and invigorated… that’s when it might be time to reach out to a trusted person for help.
