Teacher Checklist for Your Middle Schooler

Use these questions to tell your child's middle school teachers a little bit more about them.

  1. How did your child do with remote learning at the end of last year?
  2. What does your child need to be engaged on remote learning days?
  3. On a scale of 1-5 (5 being most), how comfortable is your child with technology related to remote learning?
  4. Does your family have any needs related to technology for remote learning this year?
  5. List four words that best describe your child.
  6. What are goals for your child this year (academic, social, emotional)?
  7. On a scale of 1-5 (5 being excellent) what is your child’s attitude toward school?
  8. What is your child’s preferred learning style (hearing, watching, doing, experiencing)?
  9. What are your child’s hobbies or interests outside of school?
  10. What motivates your child?
  11. Does your child prefer working in a large group, in a small group, with a partner or alone? If group work, do they like to pick their group or have it assigned?
  12. How does your child best complete work in class (in silence, talking to friends, listening to music)?
  13. In what academic area does your child feel they perform well?
  14. Which academic areas do you think need improvement?
  15. What’s your child’s favorite reward (candy, being the teacher’s helper, lunch with the teacher office helper, one-on-one time with teacher)?
  16. Is there anything else I should know about your child or your family?
