On Our Sleeves : Broken Heart
What does a broken heart mean to you?
Whether it's your own broken heart or the broken heart of someone you love, feelings of loss can be overwhelming. It can really hurt. For some, a broken heart signifies a relationship gone wrong - a young love or deeply rooted relationship or friendship that ends, leaving behind many difficult and sometimes contradictory, confusing feelings. A broken heart may result from other types of losses - the death of a loved one or a beloved pet, or a big disappointment that results in losing something very important to you. Time and support usually help us work through these losses.
For others, a broken heart just doesn't seem to mend. Or losses pile up one after another and recovery just never comes. If your heart just keeps aching or you feel like you have lost everything most important to you… that's when it's time to reach out to a trusted adult for help.
